RCBS Reloading Presses
Reloading Presses are usually categorized by the letter of the alphabet that they usually resemble: "O", "C", and "H". The "O" type is the sturdiest presses, that is suitable for bullet swaging functions and for normal reloading die usage. Heavy steel completely encloses the single die on these type of presses. The "C" type presses are equally sturdy presses designed for all. These bullet swaging use often resemble the letter "C". These are made of both steel and aluminum. Some of the users prefer "C" style presses when compared to "O" style presses. The letter "H" style presses are Shot shell style presses, that are mainly intended for non-batch use, where in each shot shell or cartridge is cycled through the dies before they are put onto the next shot shell or cartridge to be reloaded.
You can see that the single stage presses, that are of the generally of the "O" or "C" types, are found to be the simplest. They generally perform one step on one case at a time. Generally when using a single stage press, the cases are loaded in batches, one step for each cartridge per batch at a given time. Batches are usually kept small, about 20-50 cases at a time. This is done so that a batch is not left in a partly completed state. This is because high humidity and light can degrade the powder. Single stage presses are seen to be commonly used for high-precision rifle cartridge hand loading. They may also be used for high-precision reloading of all types of cartridges. They are also used for working up loads mainly for manufacturing large numbers of cartridges on a progressive press.
